I made this several months ago and wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. Here it is in any case. 
They are all my eyes and the original nature photo was taken in Hollywood, CA.

A simple manipulation: I enhanced the colors, creating an HDR-like effect. First, I duplicated the background layer. (Now there are two layers.) Then, I increased the saturation of the upper layer in addition to adjusting the layer mode to grain merge. I like the composition of the original image but I found it a bit boring:
