A simple artistic self-portrait.

I made this several months ago and wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. Here it is in any case.

They are all my eyes and the original nature photo was taken in Hollywood, CA.

The text reads:

An odd composition I came up with somehow by covering my profile with flora.

A simple manipulation: I enhanced the colors, creating an HDR-like effect. First, I duplicated the background layer. (Now there are two layers.) Then, I increased the saturation of the upper layer in addition to adjusting the layer mode to grain merge. I like the composition of the original image but I found it a bit boring:

The original fractal I made in Apophysis and added leaves in The Gimp.

For this one, I simply selected (with a combination of paths and the free selection tool) the areas around the flower and desaturated it.

Just a simple poem I wrote to accompany a simple flower image.

The text reads:

An old sigh lashes oncoming youth
For what can be feared or hated,
But to become anew as the same ol’ truth
And to be understood and celebrated.

This poem reflects the notion that members of the older generations are more likely to lash the younger ones for generally accept the differences (rather than hating or fearing them). Whether debates with possible legal course (i.e, gay rights) to social debates (i.e, the general acceptance of atheists), some dislike the differences that they just don’t understand.

The title is a play on Serenity Now (a Seinfeld reference) even though the image was actually a very therapeutic exercise. I was feeling angry at something I heard in the news or read on some blog (honestly, I can’t remember so it couldn’t have been that important). And was feeling the need for a Zen outlook at the time and created this relaxing image.

This small abstract image, I came up on after playing with the cubism effect, stripes, and overlayed flowers.
